History of Celina Gym and Cheer
Celina Gym and Cheer began in 1972, as Celina Gymnastics Center owned by Linda Stott. CGC was recognized statewide for its innovative competitive gymnastics program. Linda led competitors to many individual and team victories at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
To keep up with changing times, CGC began an all-star competitive cheerleading program in 1990 with the Eagles Pee Wee All-Stars. A Junior Eagles All Star program was added in 1991. 1995 was the first year for our nationally recognized Co-Ed Lakers All-Star cheerleading program. A Senior Open squad was added in 2001, followed by the Mini Pee Wee All Stars in 2002, and the Tiny All-Stars in 2003.
In addition to the All-Star program, we offer tumbling classes at every level and cheerleading and tumbling instruction to many of the area's junior high and high school cheerleading programs. Celina Lakers offers many new and exciting opportunities to our Lakers squads. All of our squads were named National Champions in their division in the 2004-2010 seasons. Our Youth squad place 1st at all competitions and 6th at US Finals for the 2009-2010 year.
In October of 2008, Jen and Matt Shindeldecker became the new owners of Celina Gym and Cheer. Over the years, Lakers cheerleading has afforded the opportunity for over fifty graduating seniors, male and female, to obtain college scholarships in cheerleading at such schools as Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati, University of Tennessee, Morehead State University, Eastern Michigan, University of Toledo, Wright State University, and University of Dayton.
A former Lakers cheerleader also went on to be a professional cheerleader with the Cincinnati Bengals.
